Frequently asked questions

Common questions we get from customers

What is dueling pianos?

Dueling pianos is a high-energy, interactive live music format where two performers take requests from the audience and perform popular songs from two pianos while guests are encouraged to dance and sing along. Contrary to what the name implies, dueling pianos is a collaborative format where musicians combine their talents to create a fun and engaging atmosphere. While there are many versions of dueling pianos out there, Amped Up Keys focuses on delivering high quality musical performances that generate natural crowd engagement.

What is live band karaoke?

Live band karaoke is exactly what it sounds like. Everything you love about karaoke except instead of singing along to a recording, you are singing with live musicians. We have a large library of songs and provide a 32' monitor to guide singers through the lyrics just as in regular karaoke.

What is the cost?

Our cost depends on what service you're looking for, the type of event, the day of the week, the number of performers, and the length of the show. A typical dueling piano show starts at $2400. We work with the best musicians in the industry and our number one priority is making sure they are properly compensated to deliver the best possible show for our clients. That being said, every event is different and we will do our best to work within your budget with a personalized quote.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are insured and will work with your contact to make sure we have a policy in place for your event.

How much setup time is needed?

Typical setup is 90 minutes. We will make sure to arrive 2 hours or more before the start of the event to make sure everything is setup and working before guests arrive. Once the event is over it takes about the same amount of time to pack up.

How much space do you need?

For just two pianos we like to have a dedicated 10'x10' area to setup comfortably. For three players or more, a minimum space of 12'x16' is required.

How much power do you need?

We can typically run an entire show from one dedicated 120v circuit within 50' from the performance area.

Do you provide your own sound and lighting?

Yes. We provide professional sound for your event including speakers with dedicated subwoofers, stage monitors, and a mixer. We also bring our own lighting which illuminates the stage and the dance area. All our gear is electric, including our drums, so we have full control over the mix and the volume from the stage. This makes us an ideal choice for both smaller venues and large scale events.

Do you take breaks?

No. We believe that when the band takes a break, the energy can fall off. So once we get started, the party doesn't stop until we're done.

Do you take requests?

Of course! Requests are a huge part of what we do. We bring custom request slips and pencils to every event so there are plenty to go around.

Do we need to provide a stage?

Typically, no. While we love to perform on a big stage, just a flat, level performance area is just fine.
